Our Prediction:

Tottenham will win

Tottenham – Watford Match Prediction | 19-10-2019 10:00

The major concern for Watford fans is that this is yet another flash in the pan. Every season seems to be a rollercoaster at Vicarage Road, with an excellent start to the season followed by a dismal latter half of the campaign and inevitably culminating in a new manager at the helm the following August. Obviously, The Hornets will face tougher challenges as the season progresses, but its impossible not to be impressed with how well Gracia is doing.

Prior to their FA Cup fourth round match at Crystal Palace, Spurs had already seen their hopes of competing on four fronts ended by Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea having already suffered a blow in their pursuit of league leaders Liverpool when they lost 1-0 at Wembley to Manchester United. In between the two defeats, Spurs did come from behind to beat Fulham, however Harry Winks scoring a last-minute winner after Dele Allis equaliser.

Well known football players that ever played for Watford FC are Ben Foster, John Barnes, Ashley Young, Luke Young and David James. In the season 1983/1984 Watford managed to qualify for the UEFA Cup (former Europa League) where the club got knocked out in the best of 16 round after playing against Sparta Praha. Watford FC is a stereotype UK football club where working hard is more important than talent. Watford FC never won any title in the clubs history.

They have met at Wembley since, meanwhile, in the Carabao Cup third round. Watfords win in the reverse fixture at Vicarage Road was only their eighth in the history of this fixture, while Tottenham have won 30 games and there have been nine draws. Troy Deeney and Craig Cathcart scored the Hornets goals in a 2-1 win, after Abdoulaye Doucoures own goal had put Spurs in front. It was Watfords first league win in this fixture since 1987. Etienne Capoue netted an even later equaliser, but Spurs went on to win the penalty shoot-out 4-2. Isaac Success put Watford in front before late goals from Dele Alli and Erik Lamela looked to have turned the tie around after Christian Kabaseles red card.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Watford Head-to-Head Stats

At the back, Jan Vertonghens return has at least eased injury concerns at that end of the pitch. Injuries to Harry Kane and Dele Alli, and Son Heung-Mins international commitments at the Asian Cup have left Tottenham short in attacking areas of late. Moussa Sissoko and Victor Wanyama could be available in midfield, meanwhile, after overcoming recent knee injuries. Lucas Moura returned off the bench against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, however. Ben Davies is out, however, after suffering a groin strain in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea.

They started off with a tight 2-1 win over Newcastle, before a more comprehensive 3-1 scoreline at home to Fulham. Any talk of a World Cup hangover or the lack of transfer activity has died down now. Monday night saw them in dreamland though, as they ended the curse of Old Trafford to travel back down south with a 3-0 victory under their belts.

He has guided Watford to an impressive winning start to the new campaign, beating Brighton, Burnley, and Crystal Palace in the Premier League before their midweek triumph over Reading in the EFL Cup. Javi Gracia was appointed in his stead, and while the end of last season was far from a crying success, you cannot fault the job that the Spaniard is doing now.

The Hornets, on the other hand, recorded only one win in previous five league fixtures and despite the fact that the hosts head into the midweek clash with a severely-weakened squad, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. The capital club suffered back-to-back losses to the likes of Wolverhampton and Manchester United in previous two home games in the national championship, but they are still considered favourites to win Wednesdays football match against Watford. Tottenham do not suit Watford, which is yet another reason why we believe Mauro Pochettinos men are going to pick up all three points from the match. Spurs are without key players Harry Kane and Dele Alli, who remain in the treatment room and there is every chance Fernando Llorente will lead the line for the hosts against Watford. Thanks to a hard-fought 2-1 win at Fulham Tottenham cemented third position in the Premier League standings.

THFC vs WAT Betting Tips

Craig Cathcart cancelled out his own goal before Tom Cleverleys winner in a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace but their last league game ended in a goalless draw with Bournemouth. Watford went into Saturdays FA Cup fourth round tie on the back of an unbeaten start to 2019 two wins and two draws. The first draw saw them lead 2-0 and 3-2 in the first-half against Bournemouth before drawing 3-3 Troy Deeney having scored twice and Ken Sema netting the other before a 2-0 win at Woking in the FA Cup where Deeney scored again after Will Hughes opener.

This has resulted in all but one of their six combined games seeing at least three goals scored in total, and that makes backing Over 2.5 Goals look very attractive here. Both of these sides are looking very good going forward at the moment, with Watford netting seven goals in their three league games and Spurs hitting eight in the same period. In the end, we expect Spurs to be too much for Watford, and a 2-1 correct score predictions looks the most likely outcome.
