Tipperary SHC: Thurles Sarsfields retain their Dan Breen Cup status thanks to a 15-point win over Killenaule

***Kindly Sponsored by Pas Bar, Upperchurch***SENIOR FOOTBALLWe claimed an impressive victory in the county championship last weekend with a fine second half display against the 2017 county finalists Killenaule in Littleton. Killenaule picked up where they left off immediately from the restart with a quick point but the course of the game changed completely after this as Upperchurch reeled off 1-7 without reply in the final 30 minutes to claim victory by 6 points. This match is fixed for Dundrum on Wed Sept 11th at 6pm. Final score was 1-12 to 2-3. Upperchurch scorers were Paul Shanahan 0-6(6f), Padraig Greene 1-1, Colm Stapleton 0-2, Jack Butler 0-2(1f) and Loughlin Ryan 0-1. Upperchurch clawed their way back into the game with the next 4 points but were hit with a sucker blow of conceding another goal and we trailed by 3 points at the interval. This leaves us in a strong position in the group and means the victors in our final group game against Eire g Anacarty will advance to the knockout stages. It was Killenaule who started the game sharply and by the 12th minute they were 1-2 to 0-0 ahead.

They began their campaign against Limerick on 14 December 2018 at the Gaelic Grounds.[33][34][35]Newcomer to the panel Conor Hammersley, Brendan Maher, Billy McCarthy and Michael Cahill are all unavailable with cruciate knee ligament injuries.[36][37]Tipperary defeated Limerick by 4-14 to 2-17 in front of an attendance of 3,224.

Captain Lenny Ryan scored Nenaghs goal. Our junior-B footballers opened their county championship on Sunday with a trip to Puckane where they faced Lorrha and Dorrha but unfortunately came out on the wrong side of a 2-11 to 1-4 scoreline. We send our best wishes to James Morris, Aidan Healy and Eddie Brady who all picked up knocks in the match. Galtee Rovers St. Pecaun and ire g Annacarty make up the rest of our championship group.
